Antibes - Juan les Pins
Antibes (France) is a city on the
French Riviera (Cote dŽazur) on the Mediterranean sea and lies between
cities Cannes and Nice. It is also know as Antibol or Antibo in local
languages. It takes only 20 km to get there from Nice by rail. Other
close cities are Menton, St. Tropez, Monaco. It
used to be fortified along the coast of the sea, but all ramparts are
demolished since 1860. Afterwards the new Antibes town rose outside old
walls.
On the old
Roman harbor place, there was built
a new yacht marina in 1960 and now it is a largest marina on the
French riviera (Cote DŽAzur) by total tonnage with an international yacht
club. Antibes belongs
to the department of Alpes Maritimes. And covers many areas including: -
Antibes proper ( Vieux or Old Town)
- Port Vauban
- Cap dŽAntibes - it is an exlusive area for residencies with some
beautiful chateaux
- Juan les Pins - place with many nice villas. To buy or rent houses visit
immobilier office.
- Sophia Antipolis ( southern parts)

History,
art, beaches, yachts and climate are the main attractions for visitors of
Antibes.
There are man made sandy beaches and also natural beaches which are
gravel. During summer beaches are maintained by large tractors. Beaches
east of Fort Carre are of the original rough material. Also visitors can
enjoy a lot of romantic restaurants. Or enjoy Jazz festival or local
rallye. People goes not only to hotels but many enjoy their caravan
holiday in Antibes.

a symbol of exclusivity and wealth. The Hotel du Cap is one of the most
exclusive and expensive hotels not only in France but also in the world. There
is Phare de la Garoupe (lighthouse) on the highest point of the Cap. It
was constructed after Nazis retreated and blew up the old one.
