Cannes - French Riviera

Cannes is a city in the Northern France, located on the French Riviera in the department Alpes Maritimes.  Population of the city is approximately about 70.000 citizens. Cannes is a part of a metropolitan Nice area which has about 1 milion people. The city lies on Cote D´Azur and is very close to mountains..Maritime Alps. 

This area is very famous for its beautiful sandy beaches. These beaches are mainly public.
The area is popular and many people comes for their vacances so villa and apartment rentals in Cannes are good business for local people and real estate agency.

Something from history:

Lord Henry P. Brougham is the one who was responsible for the initial growth of Cannes.
He was a well talented and respected politician from Britain. He found the city on his road to Italy in 1834. He bought some land on the west side of the Suquet hill, so he used his French politics contacts to do the rest. 

That development also brought other enterprises to the city and also the Tramway de Cannes in 1899.

 
The Cannes area has been developed to a high technology cluster. There are Sophia Antipolis technopolis beyond the city in the hills. 

Annually, every May, there is a major event of the film industry held in the city..it is the famous Cannes Film Festival. Many movie celebrities are coming there every year.

Another major annual event is held every September (last week) and it is a television festival.

Also there is a major commercial Mipim event..that is a real estate exhibition every March.
And that is not all..there are other festivals like Lions, TFWA, Mipcom or Mapic. 
Simply said..Cannes is a festival city.

Beside festivals and other major events, many organisations are contributing to the Cannes arts and teaching reputation. Lets just mention a Cannes Music and Drama Conservatoire.

Cannes has a good transportation infrastructure. Is served by the TGV and also other trains, it lies on the line from Marseille to Italy. The train station is near centre and buses have station there and also near Hotel de Ville. Nice is only 25km away and so you can get there from Nice´s international airport. Also Monaco is very near.

Cannes is also home of some big casinos, like Palm Beach Casino.
