French Language

French language is an official language in the French republic (France). French (francais) is a one of Roman languages and is originally spoken in the following countries: France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Belgium. More than 300 million of people in the world use french as their mother tongue or as their fluent second language in about 54 countries.

Similar as with other languages like Italian, Spanish, Catalian, Romanian and Portuguese its development was very influenced by Celtic and Germanic languages of the inviders. That is also why some parts of the french language are so different from Spanish or Italian and also why Spanish and Italian are much more similar than French is compared with them.

It is an administrative or an official language in 41 countries...these countries are called La Francophonie, that means french speaking nations. It is also a second mostly taught frequently language in the world right after English.

It is also used in the African Union, European Union, FIA, FIFA, FINA, IHO, Council of Europe, United Nations, in the International Court of Justice, in the International Olympic Committee and other world organisations.
